A design activism workshop for youth between 18 and 35 years of age dedicated to the fundamental theme of sustainability, which concerns us all and on which it is becoming increasingly urgent to move in a conscious manner.
But also a space for young people to put their skills into play. A moment to think about the needs of South Tyrol and how each of us can do our part to trigger positive dynamics for the entire community and the ecosystem of which we are part.
A creative process based on Design-Based Learning, that will start from the exploration of themes such as the use of resources, mobility-related choices, land use and land regeneration, consumption, purchasing and eating habits...and it will lead participants to go deep into a phase of conception of an awareness raising campaign which will promote virtuous behaviour in favour of sustainability. The campaign will be disseminated on the main social media channels.
Thanks to the guidance of expert facilitators and collaborative activities, we will face a path that will allow us to convey our message both visually and in terms of storytelling in a positive way and at the same time with great impact, in order to spread awareness of the causes we
support.
We will deal with design methodologies and approach tools and canvases (digital and otherwise) designed to support the creative process.

The intense collaboration between LAND Srl, international landscape consulting company, and Terra Institute Srl, sustainability consultants for global change, in 2021 has resulted in the publication of a whitepaper based on our joined expertise in the planning of resilient landscapes and territorial developments. The study provides concrete steps and a framework that municipalities, regions or communities can apply to analyse, identify and implement opportunities in their specific landscapes. The whitepaper combines the expertise of LAND Srl and Terra Institute in their complementary approaches to regional development and stresses the need for a participatory process towards sustainable regional development involving citizens and different professional and institutional sectors in order to make regions fit for a green transition. Landscape has a key role in activating the potential of communities and places thus fostering change. Our contribution to the “Sustainability Days 2022” will be a moderated panel discussion between the founders of the two companies, Andreas Kipar and Evelyn Oberleiter, moderated by co-founder of Terra Institute, Günther Reifer. The discussion will cover the challenges and opportunities of sustainable regional development with a special focus on current examples in South Tyrol. The meeting will be held online and in English, and the whitepaper will be made available to the participants at the end of the event.

The Provincial Councillor for Trade and Services Philipp Achammer and the hds business association invite you to an extensive supporting programme between Bressanone and Vipiteno. The focus is on local supply in rural areas and local cycles.
How can we keep South Tyrol's communities livable and vibrant while at the same time enhancing living space and the economy?
In one afternoon, Provincial Councillor Philipp Achammer and the hds will demonstrate with a practice-oriented roadshow that South Tyrol's rural areas are bursting with exciting ideas and entrepreneurial spirit. People from political and economic life will demonstrate strategies and fruits of the "South Tyrolean Way". With targeted support and an active citizenry, unconventional, sustainable and local business ideas can also bear fruit successfully.
On the way, the group meets interesting entrepreneurs who have implemented innovative ideas: By train from Bressanone to Vipiteno, then by bike in Pfitsch to visit the operator of a herb garden, then to the town of Vipiteno with its special commitment to sustainability and rural local supply. The tour continues by bus to Mauls, where the preservation of a local supply business was possible thanks to public funding and a lot of personal commitment.
As part of the initiative 'The Recycling Cycle', a free guided tour of the Bolzano waste-to-energy plant will be organised, promoted by the Upad Foundation, Palladio and Cesfor in cooperation with the Bolzano eco centre and as part of the Bolzano Province's Sustainability Days. The problem of the indiscriminate production and accumulation of waste requires us to make clear choices: proper disposal and recycling, processing and minimal environmental impact are the keywords for an intelligent and sustainable management of the waste that people produce every day. How to sort waste? What and how much can be recovered and recycled? How to produce less of it? How to transform it into clean energy?
These are the topics at the heart of the initiative, which is totally free of charge, and will be preceded at 9.30 a.m. by an introductory conference on the theme "Waste, problem or resource?", by Marco Palmitano, general manager of eco centre, followed by a talk by Prof. Lucio Lucchin, president of the "Gaetano Gambara" Upad Cultural Federation, on food waste and the food regime of the future.
A shuttle bus will be provided to reach the waste-to-energy plant, departing at 9.00 a.m. from the Bolzano Lido car park.
For safety reasons, closed shoes and long trousers are required.
The use of a protective mask is recommended.
For further information or to book a place, please contact 0471 272 690 or 210201 or send an e-mail to info@cesfor.bz.it or info@upad.it

Wednesday, 7 September, starting at 5 p.m. at the Parkhotel Laurin, Laurinstraße 4 in Bolzano Sustainability challenges us at all levels, is a task for society as a whole and must become the maxim of our actions. Young people in particular are very sensitive to this and are very concerned with this topic, because sustainability means the future - also in sport. The Association of Sports Clubs in South Tyrol has been dealing with this topic for a long time and has asked itself how sport and its sports organisations can face this particular challenge. The N! Charter for Sport, a target concept conceived by the Ministry of the Environment of Baden Württemberg in close cooperation with the State Sports Association of Baden Württemberg, the sports associations and sports clubs in the context of the action programme Sport and Sustainability, seemed to us to be able to support an uncomplicated entry into an initial sustainability management in sport.

Thursday, 8 September 2022 from 2 to 4 p.m. a webinar on the topic of "Energy Communities". The development of renewable energies in connection with energy communities is a new field for South Tyrol. The webinar aims to reach as many stakeholders as possible, in particular municipalities, the energy sector and interested citizens, and to demonstrate the approach and added value for local communities in an energy community through a general introduction and concrete best examples from Italy and abroad. In addition, the actors active in this field and potentially interested communities in South Tyrol are to be better sensitised and networked. Last but not least, a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages as well as on important aspects of the concrete implementation of energy communities in South Tyrol is also planned. The event will last about 2 hours, online via zoom, in order to enable as many people as possible to participate in an environmentally friendly way.
Participants start in Bolzano at the bus station with bus line no. 180 at 10.07 a.m. and are 33 minutes later in Welschnofen at the valley station of the Welschnofen cable car. In another 25 minutes you reach the Kölner Hütte at 2,337 m. On the way in the cable cars, we give an insight into the sustainable mountain mobility experience at Rosengarten: the Carezza Dolomites company has been committed to sustainability for years. In autumn 2019, the company joined the climate neutrality alliance and measures its CO2 footprint annually. The action is intended to show that, on the one hand, it is possible to reach the Dolomite Rocks and thus the UNESCO World Heritage Site directly from the provincial capital in just 1 hour using sustainable mobility, and on the other hand, to provide insights into the sustainability strategy of a cableway company.
