“Climate Change: Its Physical Background, Increasing Impacts, Limits of Adaptation and Pathways of Mitigation”

The key message of the latest IPCC Assessment Report on Climate Change is clear: Climate Change has become a global crisis affecting all regions and continents, basically all sectors of human activities, ecosystems and humankind as a whole. Physically, we have a small window to stabilize global warming at 1.5°C, an immediate and radical transition of our society would be required to keep it. But even adaptation to a 1.5°C warmer world will cause unavoidable costs and losses because the availability of adaptation options is constrained by limitations faced by the natural world and people. The warmer it gets, the less effective our options to reduce climate risks become.
